Your username is how other members find and recognize you on OrbitLabX. This policy explains which usernames aren't allowed, and the rights we keep over usernames more generally.
Some usernames are automatically blocked at signup, including those that:
This list is automated and applied at signup - if your chosen username is blocked, you'll be asked to pick a different one before your account can be created.
Beyond the automated list above, OrbitLabX reserves the right to rename, reclaim, disable, or reject any username - or, for the categories in Section 3, a display name - at our discretion, even one not caught by an automated filter, if it is, or could reasonably be seen as:
We aim to use this judgment sparingly and reasonably, and to give you a chance to choose a replacement username where practical - see Section 4.
Most of this policy applies to your username/handle - the identifier that appears in your profile URL and that others use to find you - not your real display name, which is meant to reflect who you actually are. We do not block a display name simply because it matches a common personal name, even one that also appears on the restricted-username list (for example, a real given name shared with a religious figure).
The one exception is profanity and slurs: since these are never a legitimate real name, that restriction applies to your display name as well as your username.
If we reclaim or disable a username under Section 2, we'll make a reasonable effort to notify you and give you the opportunity to choose a new one, except where immediate action is necessary (for example, active impersonation or abuse). Your account, content, and data are not affected by a username change.
We may update this policy as our platform grows. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
